Norton County Hospital has one in-house pharmacy that provides medications to inpatients, outpatients and the following departments: Surgery and Emergency. The Pharmacy department has one pharmacist in charge, as well as a director and technicians who maintain the department.
Practitioners will order medications through the patient's electronic medical chart; the order for medications is checked by a pharmacist for appropriateness and safety. The nursing staff can then remove the medication from our medication dispensing system and take to the bedside, where the patient and medications are matched for safety with our barcode administration system.
